Cup of Joy

Thank you Indian Cricket team , for giving us a memorable day in our life , by lifting the coveted ICC World Cup 2011 . A day 1.21  billion people will remember through out their life .

After a gap of 28 years , after Kapil's Devils brought the world cup for the first time in the year 1983 to India , every Indian wait for this moment , witnessing the Indian Cricket team lifting the world cup . Though in 2003 we came near the cup , by entering the final , the dream eluded us.

I remember the World cup won by India in 1983 , where there were not much television sets in India .  And I  have witnessed the match in my friend's house , the only one who had a T.V set in our friend's circle . Only Transistor radio was our entertainment  those days .   I was 14 years old that time . This much hype , this much coverage were not their that time. To watch matches we stay  in our friend's house . Almost 20 to 25 friends watch matches  together in one friend's house .With noise and comments touching the roof  , every day it was a festival .

While in school and college we used to carry  pocket radio to listen the commentary , and some times even got punishment for the same.

Things have changed now. But the craze towards the game remains  the same . The wait was worth. Carrying the prayers and  hope of millions of Indians , Dhoni and team India brought glory to our country . A fitting farewell to Gary Kirsten under whose guidance our team reached all mile stones .

A fitting pay back of our gratitude to a man who carried million of Indian's hope in his shoulder for 2 decades . Yes this cup is for the great little maestro Sachin by our  younger generation players .

May be we have to wait for a long time again in our life time till  we win another world cup . But till then  let us cherish and enjoy this special occasion  through out our life .
