You can't run away from pain

An old matured, seasoned farmer, one day, was very angry with God though he was a great devotee.

He said to God in his morning prayer, "I have to tell it as it is — enough is enough! You don't understand even the ABC of agriculture! When the rains are needed, there are no rains;

when the rains are not needed, You go on pouring them. What nonsense is this? If you don't understand agriculture, You can ask me — I have devoted my whole life to it. Give me one chance; the coming season, let me decide and see, what happens."

God said, "Okay, this season you decide!" So the farmer decided, and he was very happy because whenever he wanted sun there was sun, whenever he wanted rain there was rain, whenever he wanted clouds there were clouds.

And he avoided all dangers, all the dangers that could be destructive for his crops; he simply rejected them — no strong winds, no possibility of any destruction to his crops. And his wheat started growing higher than anybody had ever seen; it was going above a man's height. And he was very happy.

He thought, "Now I will show Him!" And then the crop was cut and he was very puzzled. There was no wheat at all — just empty husks. What happened? Such big plants — plants big enough to have given wheat four times bigger than ordinary wheat — but there was no wheat at all. And suddenly he heard laughter from the clouds.

God laughed and He said, "Now what do you say?" The farmer said, "I am puzzled, because there was no possibility of destruction and all that was helpful was provided. And the plants were growing so well, and the crop was so green and so beautiful! What happened to my wheat?"

God said, "Because there was no danger — you avoided all danger — it was impossible for the wheat to grow. It needs challenges."

We all flee from pain and seek pleasure forgetting there are times in everyone's life when something constructive is born out of adversity. When things seem so bad it prompts us to escape the burden and realize our strength, either through creating healthy changes in our outer world or transforming ourselves inside and realizing our hidden potential.

EXPECT A BAG FROM SPACE

Remains of a tool bag dropped by an Endeavour astronaut in November 2008 is expected to reach earth's surface on Tuesday . Previously it was expected to reach on July 25 . But it is not known where it will exactly happen according to experts .

Tools for outer space work are made up of high alloy steel , thats why it is quite propable that some fragments will not burn in earth atmosphere, but will reach earth surface according to space industry experts .

When suffering comes, why do you estrange yourselves from the Lord? He gives you suffering for your own good, for the advancement of your devotion.

If suffering is granted, you seek peace, you search for knowledge of the mystery, you go to wise men to listen to aspects of the truth.

Without suffering, sweetness cannot arise.”

Give joy to all. Practicing Selfless Love is the way to achieve this ideal. When Love can bring even God near you, how can it fail where human beings are involved?

God dwells in a pure heart, shining in His innate splendor of Wisdom, Power and Love. Start the day with Love. Spend the day with Love.

Fill the day with Love. End the day with Love. That is the way to God.

You do not lose much if a finger is so damaged that it needs to be cut off.

The body can still function and be a fit instrument.

Even if you lose a limb, you can function and benefit with the help of your faculties.

But if you lose character, then everything is lost.

Do not allow laziness, hatred or anger to contaminate your hearts.

The world looks forward to your leadership in establishing and ensuring peace.

Practice calmness and the habit of deliberation.

If anyone blames, abuses or hurts you, do not retaliate with the same.

Behave nobly and with patience.

Rich and Poor

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, 'How was the trip?' 'Did you see how poor people live?' the father asked.'Oh yeah,' said the son .So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?' asked the father.

The son answered: 'I saw that we have one dog and they had four.We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.

' The boy's father was speechless. Then his son added, 'Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are'.

Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!

Riches melt away only when you spend them. But the span of years you can live on earth is shortened every moment, whether you like it or not.

Therefore, you must feel an urgency in accomplishing great tasks in life. The intellect is a special gift that has been offered to you, so you may know yourself.

Like the mirror is used to look at your face and set right your blemishes, use the intellect to discharge your duties in life perfectly.

Though axed and maimed by man, trees selflessly serve him by providing him fruits and shade. Rivers carry water to quench man's thirst and to cleanse his body. The cow also selflessly serves man by providing milk. Man should, in the first place, realize the truth that he has been endowed with the human body not for seeking his selfish ends but for serving others. Since man has gained his wealth, knowledge and skills from society, he has to discharge his debt to society by doing some good in return. A man without this supreme virtue of gratitude is worse than a cruel animal; his education and skills are a sheer waste. It is indeed by serving society that these acquire splendour and significance .

mind set

You may noticed huge creatures like elephant are being held by

only a rope tied to their legs . They can any time break away from

the ropes but for some reasons they did not . Did you know why ?

When they were young the trainer use the same size rope to tie them.

As they grow up, they believe they can not break away the small rope that

tied to their legs . It limited its present ability by the limitations of its past.

Like the elephant , how many of us go through life holding on to a belief

that we cannot do something , simply because we failed at it once before ?

How many of us refuse to attempt some thing new and challenging because

of our so called MIND SET ?

Remember ....

Your attempt may fail , but never fail to make an attempt ........

&

CHOOSE not to accept the false boundaries and limitations

created by the past ....................

the art of decision making

A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the operational track.

The train is coming, and you are just beside the track interchange. You can make the train change its course to the disused track and save most of the kids.

However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way? Let's take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make........ .........

Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only one child. You might think the same way, I guess. Exactly, to save most of the children at the expense of only one child was rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally.

But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place? Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday.

In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society, the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how farsighted and knowledgeable the minority are. The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational track was sidelined.

And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him. The great critic Leo Velski Julian who told the story said he would not try to change the course of the train because he believed that the kids playing on the operational track should have known very well that track was still in use, and that they should have run away if they heard the train's sirens..

If the train was diverted, that lone child would definitely die because he never thought the train could come over to that track! Moreover, that track was not in use probably because it was not safe.

If the train was diverted to the track, we could put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in your attempt to save a few kids by sacrificing one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds of people to save these few kids.

While we are all aware that life is full of tough decisions that need to be made, we may not realize that hasty decisions may not always be the right one.

'Remember that what's right isn't always popular... and what's popular isn't always right.'

Everybody makes mistakes; that's why they put erasers on pencils.

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memorybut nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call.Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency?

Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency)CampaignThe concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contactduring emergency situations.

As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact personor persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" (In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to thescenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call.

He therefore thought that it wouldbe a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staffwould be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing thenumber you have stored as "ICE.

"For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. Agreat idea that will make a difference!Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobilephones today!

Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybodywill know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one'smind at rest .

ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

Divine discourse - Shri Sai Baba

Take an ordinary postal envelope. Upon it, in golden ink, write the address of a person in artistic calligraphy. Insert a beautiful worded letter full of amazing sentiments, and drop it into a postbox. What happens to it? It will not move even a yard away! Now take a simple post card, scribble unimpressive things with no special care, affix a stamp, an address and drop it into the box. What happens? The artistically ornamental envelope is inert, while the inartistic cheap document travels a thousand miles towards the person indicated. Therefore, whatever may be the uniqueness or importance, the furore or attractiveness, the service that you do can yield no fruit if it is done without a pure chiththa (thought or intention).

add less salt to avoid diseases

We all know that salt is important in cooking . How ever if it raises a bit then the taste of the food changes .

People having blood pressure complaints are advised to use less salt in their food. Well what is the amount of salt one needed daily ?

According to scientists it is 2.8 gm per day for people who are working hard , and 2.2 gram per day for others .

Though it is hard to weigh our daily salt consumption , it is better to eat less salt to avoid high blood pressure and other complaints .

some good thoughts

'To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.'

When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.

The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'

There comes a point in your life when you realize:

Who matters,
Who never did,

Who won't anymore...

And who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past,

there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

A rare astronomical event

The world will witness a rare astronomical event- a series of triple eclipses starting July 2009. The fist in the series of triple eclipses was a lunar eclipse on July 7 which will be followed by a solar eclipse on July 22 and then a lunar eclipse on August 6.

According to astrologers the eclipses occouring at with in a month gap will have some effect .

Will History Repeat Itself?

What is strange is that if one looks back at the events that have unfolded in the past, triple eclipses have always been followed by destruction. That the first of the triple eclipses was recorded way back in 3067 BCE (Before Common Era).

Following this triple eclipse there was the Kurukshethra war which was fought between the Pandavas and Kauravas in which 47 lakh people took part. The sequence of the first triple eclipse was as follows- Lunar eclipse on 29 September 3067, Solar eclipse on 14 October 3067 and Lunar eclipse on 28 October 3067 BCE.

The second of the triple eclipses occurred in 36 years after the first one in November 3031 BCE. There was a lunar eclipse on October 20, which was followed by a solar and lunar eclipse on November 5 and November 19, 3031 BCE. Following this sequence, the city of Dwaraka was destroyed after it was submerged in water.

In the years 1913 to 1946 people have witnessed back to back triple eclipses. There were triple eclipses in the years 1915, 1916 and 1917. This was the period when the world witnessed World War I.

There was a similar event in 1933, the year when Adolf Hitler assumed charge of Germany. 1935 also witnessed a triple eclipse and the very same year, the world was horrified at the persecution of the Jews. There were triple eclipses in 1940, 1942 and 1944 when the world witnessed World War II.

Do these eclipses only fortell castastrophes or do they also have a good message ?

If we look at the events of the past, we find that along with such horrific events, there have also been some good events. Post the first triple eclipse, Krishna gave the Bhagwad Gita sermon to Arjuna. The first world war was followed by the Geneva Conference, thanks to which the concept of the League of Nations was born. After the World war II, the United Nations was born.

The 2009 eclipse:

The first of the eclipse will occur on July 7, which will be visible in Australia, the Pacific and Americas. The solar eclipse on July 22, will be visible in India, Nepal, China and Central Pacific and the lunar eclipse on August 6 will be visible in America, Europe, Africa and West Asia.

The Law of the Garbage Truck'

"Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around collecting garbage and become full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. NEVER take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on with the routine life."

Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,
so..... 'Love the people who treat you right.. Pray for the ones who don't.'

A very rightly said quote:

Life is 10% what you make and 90% how you take

Divine Discourse - SHRI SAI BABA

Let me call upon you to give up two evils from your mind on this Holy Day: Self-praise and talking scandal. Adopt one habit: The habit of loving service to the distressed. If you spend all your time and energy in worldly comfort and sensual delight, you are disgracing the human existence. Consider this body as a temple of God where He resides. Keep it clean, fresh and fragrant through developing Compassion and Love. Use the Temple of God, only for holy thoughts, words and deeds. Do not demean it by using it for low, trivial and unholy tasks. Wherever you are, whatever you do, have this resolution steady and strong.

DO YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT

Here's a diet that can help you knock off anywhere up to 10 kilos in two months. It is a realistic and easy to follow programme that you will have no trouble sticking to.
you will need to couple this with an exercise routine which is equally easy to follow.

Your diet:
A good weight-loss diet is one which helps you drop kilos while improving your overall health. This food plan will make sure you never go hungry or even feel like you are on a diet. Things you need to be particular about are following the plan closely and maintaining regular, fixed meal times every day, because erratic eating causes the body to store fat.
Breakfast:
A bowl of cereal (of your choice, except sugar-coated varieties) with skimmed milk
Egg whites (boiled or poached)
Wholegrain toast with a low-fat spread
Fruit or fruit juice
Tea or coffee with skimmed milk and a sugar substitute (optional)
Mid-morning snack:
Handful of nuts
Glass of water with lemon OR green tea

Lunch:
Rotis
Vegetables lightly cooked in olive oil
Dal
Salad OR a wholegrain sandwich with low-fat filling, eg: veggies with chutney or hummus, egg with low-fat mayo etc.
Evening Snack:
Fruit OR idlis OR khakras
Tea/ coffee with skimmed milk and a sugar substitute (optional)

Dinner:
It is extremely important to eat your dinner at least 3 hours before you lie down in bed, in order to prevent fat storage:
Soup
Salad with a low fat dressing
Lightly cooked chicken/ fish/ lentils

Drink plenty of water through the day. Have a glass between every meal and two glasses before, during and after exercise. If you find yourself craving chocolate, wafers or any such sinful foods, you have two options:a. Go for a low-fat version of it or, b. Have just one bite of it to satisfy the urge. But make sure you don't do this more than once a week!

Your exercise routine:
Simply put, your body needs to burn more calories than it is consuming in order to lose weight. So while your diet takes care of not adding on unnecessary calories, exercise takes charge of burning the accumulated calories/ fat.

Here's a very simple exercise to help you burn off the kilos:
Walking!
You need to walk 5-6 days a week for a duration of 45 minutes. Start off with a 7-minute warm-up of walking at a medium pace. For the next 30 minutes, walk at a fast pace and maintain that pace through the 30 minutes (work hard!). Bring the pace down to medium again for the last 7 minutes and then to slow for the last minute. Make sure you walk on a jogging track or any even surface and wear proper walking shoes. Increase the walking pace each week. You could even start jogging.
Be persevering
Every individual's body reacts differently and some people lose weight faster than others. So if you don't see the results you'd hoped for un two months, don't give up. It just means that your body will take a bit longer, but you will get the figure you've always wanted, so keep at it!

Have a great health
