OLD HORSES AND IPL

Every one want to bet in a running horse . This is what proved in the latest Indian Premier League  2011 auction . Big names did not guarantee any more to the money mind corporates. 

Stalwarts in the field like Lara, Ganguly , Jayasurya etc, who have not played active cricket for the past one year  are ignored by  the franchises .It may be  a surprise to some people , when Ganguly was  not  considered by any team. He did not have good seasons with Kolkatta Knight Riders for the last two years , and was  not in the favoured  list of the team management during the last 2 seasons itself. 

With 20 -20 game require more and more hard hitters,  it is not a surprise players like Ganguly, Lara  who are old , and not in their prime form are ignored by the managements .  When a game is played for the spirit, and flavour of the game players like Lara , Ganguly , Jayasurya can find their foot in the team combination.

players are paid in crores , it is undebatable when the team managements ignore players who are old and not in their  prime form .

Jaya Surya correctly said these things are part and parcel of the cricket players, and the player have to move on further .

Consider the case of  Stephen Fleming who first came as a player in to the Chennai Super Kings , in the first season . But he easily converted himself  as a coach and contributed his valuable experience , to the winning performance of a rather young Super Kings team. 

It will be better to  the old horses like Ganguly and other valuable players like Lara , Jayasurya , to lend their experience to the teams as a coach , rather than a player , and it will be good for the younger players also .
